Colombia and Portugal are already through to the World Cup 2026 Round of 32 even before the final matchday in Group K, so it was a matter of who would finish on top between these two sides heading into Saturday evening. In the end, Los Cafeteros are first in Group K following their goalless draw against the Selecao at Hard Rock Stadium. Don’t let the score fool you, as both sides gave it their all in the entertaining contest.
Elsewhere, DR Congo defied the SBOTOP World Cup 2026 odds to join the knockouts with a timely 3-1 win over Uzbekistan. The Leopards certainly owe their success to Yoane Wissa, who has been their most impactful player thus far.
Following the latest set of World Cup 2026 results, Portugal have drawn Croatia, while Colombia and DR Congo will face Ghana and England, respectively. As for Uzbekistan, they’ll watch the rest of the competition from home.
Colombia 0-0 Portugal
The draw between Colombia and Portugal was one of the most entertaining matches today, despite the 0-0 scoreline, as both teams had plenty of chances to score.
The first four minutes already saw a chance from Jhon Arias, who headed the ball over the crossbar. Jhon Cordoba also had a chance to draw first blood in the 17th minute when he forced Diogo Costa into a save after shrugging off Bruno Fernandes. Arias was denied for the second time in the 22nd minute, when Neves cleared his long drive.
Cristiano Ronaldo sent a tame long-range free-kick down the middle at goalkeeper Camilo Vargas during the 25th minute. Bruno Fernandes tried to turn and score 14 minutes later, and Joao Felix’s sliding kick sailed over the bar. James Rodriguez had one more chance for Los Cafeteros right before halftime, as he forced Costa into another save.
Colombia came out of the restart more aggressively, as they forced Costa into a string of saves when Jefferson Lerma, Richard Rios, Jhon Arias, and Gustavo Puerta pushed for an opener, with Rodriguez pulling the strings from midfield.
Nestor Lorenzo’s men thought they found their breakthrough in the 91st minute when Davinson Sanchez headed Juan Fernando Quintero’s cross into the back of the net, but the VAR disallowed the goal for the tightest of offside goals. The review showed that Sanchez’s toe had just strayed past Rafael Leao.
Los Cafeteros knew that a draw would be enough to win the group, but given how they played against the Selecao, they’ll be disappointed not to have walked away with three points. They had 12 first-half efforts, which were more than Portugal faced in their past two group-stage matches. James Rodriguez was the catalyst for Colombia, as he created a joint-team-high five chances and played a game-high 43 passes in the final third.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo had a largely quiet performance, managing just three shots and 35 touches.
DR Congo 3-1 Uzbekistan

DR Congo are through to the Round of 32 for the first time after mounting a successful comeback against Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan thought they had made a fast start to the match as Eldor Shomurodov found the back of the net inside 23 seconds. However, the VAR ruled out his goal for offside after Dostonbek Khamdamov was caught out of position.
However, Shomurodov made sure his second opportunity counted in the 10th minute, as he latched onto Akmal Mozgovoy’s bounce pass, drove past Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and floated a lob over goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi.
Nathaniel Mbuku thought he had levelled in the 17th minute for the Leopards when he fired a half-volley past Abduvokhid Nematov at the near post, but the VAR disallowed his goal too.
After being quiet for most of the first half, Yoane Wissa thought he had a decent chance from 18 yards, but his shot went over the post before the break. But the Newcastle United striker was more aggressive during the restart and was rewarded with a penalty, which he converted, after a challenge from Abdukodir Khusanov inside the box in the 68th minute.
Fiston Mayele doubled DR Congo’s lead 10 minutes later when he chipped the ball home after Meschack Elia’s effort. Wissa put the final nail in the coffin in stoppage time with his brilliant turn-and-shoot move from distance, sending their supporters into pandemonium. Wissa became the second player to score an African nation’s first two World Cup goals after Abdelrahman Fawzi for Egypt in 1934. DR Congo have scored more goals from the 68th minute onwards (three) than they had managed in their first five-and-a-half World Cup matches (one).
