Tottenham Hotspur’s slide down the Premier League took an alarming turn of pace on Sunday afternoon after they were hammered 3-0 at home by relegation rivals Nottingham Forest.
It was a pure horror show for Spurs fans, after they had watched their team crash out of the Champions League to Atletico Madrid in midweek. That 3-2 second leg win, although not enough, was Tottenham’s first victory in the disastrous reign of Igor Tudor and the Spurs board must surely be considering another change at the helm.
This was Vitor Pereira’s first win as Nottingham Forest manager and it was much easier than he might have imagined once Igor Jesus had scored on the stroke of half time. Morgan Gibbs White, the Forest midfield star who Spurs had spent much of last summer trying to sign, doubled the lead before Taiwo Awoniyi made it 3-0, before the hosts had even managed a shot on goal in the second half.
This was a heavy blow for Spurs who were buoyed by a draw with Liverpool last week and a promising European performance against Atletico, but any goodwill has gone up in smoke as the home fans headed for the exits long before the final whistle. Without a win in 13 games, Tottenham are in an unholy mess, one point above the drop zone and with eight games to play. The latest SBOTOP Premier League 2026 betting odds say, with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley as good as gone, the final relegation spot is probably between Spurs and West Ham United.
And it would have been a whole lost worse for the Londoners had Aston Villa not beaten West Ham on Sunday afternoon. A win for the Hammers would have dumped Spurs into the bottom three but Villa strengthened their Champions League hopes with a clinical 2-0 victory. John McGinn’s smart finish gave the Villans a half time lead and Ollie Watkins made the points safe in the second period.
As it turned out, fourth placed Aston Villa was the only top six side to get a win this weekend.
Maguire’s Mare hands Cherries a point

While the Premier League’s top two teams, Arsenal and Manchester City, were contesting the Carabao Cup final, the chasing pack were all in action and third placed Manchester United had a chance to cement their position in third but they had to settle for a point away to Bournemouth on Friday night.
With the score at 2-1 to the Red Devils and time running out, centre back Harry Maguire gave away a penalty and picked up a red card to give the Cherries a share of the points. Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes gave his side a lead from the penalty spot before Ryan Christie levelled for Bournemouth, moments after United had another strong shout for a penalty. It seemed like a crazy own goal from James Hill had given the visitors all three points, but when Maguire made a desperate lunge at Evanilson the referee gave a penalty and sent the defender down the tunnel, before Junior Kroupi swept home the penalty.
Pool and Blues crash and burn
The race for Champions League places has been a little chaotic in recent weeks and this weekend was no exception as Liverpool and Chelsea, in fifth and sixth, both fell to awkward defeats. For Arne Slot’s Liverpool it was a tenth league loss of the season and they also suffered an injury to Hugo Ekitike.
It was veteran striker Danny Welbeck who did the damage, scoring either side of a Milos Kerkez equaliser to take the Seagulls up to tenth while Liverpool stay fifth.
A fourth loss on the bounce for Liam Rosenior meant Chelsea stayed in sixth but Everton, who handed the Blues a 3-0 hammering, have pulled themselves up to the fringe of the European places into eighth. Centre forward Beto scored a goal in each half and the excellent Iliman Ndiaye scored a screamer into the top corner to send the home fans wild, and dreaming of a long awaited return to European football.
In other Premier League 2026 news Fulham came from behind to record a 3-1 win over Burnley to move into ninth place and keep their European hopes well and truly alive. Nothing much is going right for the Clarets who saw a first half penalty appeal waved away, and when Zian Fleming had given them a lead on 60 minutes it merely prompted a Cottagers’ onslaught.
Josh King took advantage of a fumble from Burnley keeper Martin Dubravka to level, before Fulham’s in form star Harry Wilson turned the game around. And the hosts made it 3-1 deep into injury time as Raul Jimenez hammered home a penalty after Burnley’s Josh Laurent had been sent off.
