Inter Milan vs Como
Coppa Italia action returns to the Guiseppe Meazza Stadium on Tuesday as Inter Milan and Como get it on for their semi-final second leg, after drawing 0-0 in the first leg in Lombardy.
Cesc Fabregas’ Como had the better of the first leg, with some good chances and they managed to keep Cristian Chivu’s Inter quiet, but now the underdogs have it all to do in Milan. Inter are streaking away at the top of the Serie A League table, 12 points clear of second placed Napoli and with just five games to play. Meanwhile Como, the insurgents of the Italian topflight, are in a battle for fifth place with Roma and Atalanta, though fourth is not out of the question with Juventus just two points ahead.
But, while I Nerazzurri are gathering serious momentum as the finish line comes into view, I Lariani have stumbled a little. On Friday, while Inter slapped Cagliari 3-0, Como were falling to a 2-1 loss away to Sassuolo to make it back-to-back league defeats.
The first of those defeats was…to Inter.
The winners of this tie will meet either Lazio or Atalanta in the final on May 13th, and the Coppa Italia 2026 betting odds say it will be I Nerazzurri at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Talking Points
Chivu’s double dream
When Cristian Chivu took over at Inter Milan in the summer of 2025 he did so with the club and fans’ blessing, as a former playing star and youth team coach, and he had the job of making the team winners again after they trailed Napoli in the race for the 2025 Scudetto and then were dismantled in the Champions League final, hammered 5-0 by Inter Milan.

The players needed picking up and, while they are out of the 2025/26 Champions League, the domestic double is well and truly on with the Scudetto virtually in the bag. The challenge of Napoli and AC Milan has almost dissipated as I Nerazzurri continue to churn out the wins and Inter’s recent match at home to AS Roma was a case in point, as they destroyed the Europe chasing Giallorossi 5-2 as Lautaro Martinez scored a double. The Inter skipper has been nursing a calf injury, missing the last two games and he is doubtful for this semi-final, but France striker Marcus Thuram has stepped up, scoring three in the last two outings.
Fabregas is committed to Como
Since completing his playing career at Como, in 2022/23 and taking over as manager when he hung his boots up, Fabregas has become a hero in Lombardy after he led the club to promotion in 2024 and then a tenth-place finish in 2025. Now I Lariani are genuine European contenders and are within touching distance of a domestic cup final, so it is no surprise that he is being talked about in the higher echelons of European football. But the former Arsenal and Barcelona star has moved quickly to quash any rumours in the run up to this game, saying he is ‘very involved and attached’ to the club. Fifth in the table there is an exciting end to the season on the cards and Fabregas will be determined to keep his young team fully focussed…and calm. Winning 29 of 70 Serie A games in charge, and 16 from 33 this season Fabregas is developing as a manager as quickly as his players are as a team.
One star sure to feature in the Coppa Italia 2026 highlights on Tuesday is Argentine attacking midfielder Nico Paz. The 21 year old real Madrid Academy player scored against Sassuolo to make it 12 goals for the campaign and put him second, behind Martinez, in the race for the Capocannoniere.
But Como will spend a lot of this second leg on the back foot and, with the second tightest defence in the division, conceding only 26 league goals, 6ft 5in centre back Jacobo Ramon, also 21, will have a huge part to play.
History
Inter Milan have won the Coppa Italia nine times and six times this century; with back-to-back triumphs in 2005 and 2006, 2010 and 2011, and 2022 and 2023, while Como are yet to reach the cup final.
Inter have won five of the six previous meetings with Como, drawing the first leg of this semi-final, and the two clubs met only a week ago, playing out a seven-goal thriller, edged by I Nerazzurri as Marcus Thuram and Denzil Dumfries scored twice each.
Over the past six games Inter have won the last three, drawn two and lost one, while Como have won three, then drawn one and lost two in that order.
Betting Tip
Inter are the hot favourites at SBOTOP odds of 1.64, with Como at 4.41 and the draw at 3.51. The men of Lombardy are certainly in with a shout, but the hosts have their recent form to add to the home advantage on their side, and I predict a clinical display from Chivu’s men. For a correct scoreline, a 1-0 home win is priced at 6.50.
