Time is running out for Bayer Leverkusen. The defending Bundesliga champions lag behind Bayern Munich in the German top-flight table. After last weekend’s Bundesliga 2025 results, the Bundesliga 2025 odds aren’t optimistic on Die Werkself’s title defence chances.
Despite being on a two-game winning streak, Xabi Alonso’s side is six points behind Die Bayern. With seven matchdays left in the 2024-25 campaign, Bayer Leverkusen must step up their pursuit and hope that Vincent Kompany’s men encounter a banana peel.
These two sides have winnable games on matchday 28, as Bayern Munich visit Augsburg at the WWK Arena and Bayer Leverkusen take on Heidenheim at the Voith-Arena this weekend.
On the other hand, SC Freiburg will host Borussia Dortmund in another interesting clash at Europa-Park Stadion, as both teams fight for a spot in European football.

Augsburg vs Bayern Munich
With just seven matchdays left, Bayern Munich are poised to reclaim the Meisterschale because they have a six-point cushion over Bayer Leverkusen. However, they cannot underestimate Augsburg, who have been in fine form.
Augsburg are one of the most in-form teams in the German top-flight, unbeaten in their last 11 matches. After losing 1-0 to VfB Stuttgart last January, Jess Thorup’s men have picked up six wins and five draws.

Alexis Claude-Maurice is on top of Bayern Munich’s scouting report. The versatile Frenchman is Augsburg’s leading scorer with nine league goals and one assist, and he’ll have Fredrik Jensen and Phillip Tietz with him in the final third.
However, Bayern Munich are confident they can outmatch Augsburg’s firepower. Die Bayern have the Golden Boot frontrunner in Harry Kane, who has 22 league goals and seven assists this season. The Englishman has now scored against all 19 teams he has faced in the Bundesliga after scoring against FC St. Pauli last time out.
Bayern Munich won 3-0 in their reverse fixture against Augsburg last November at the Allianz Arena. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick in the second half and Keven Schlotterbeck was sent off during stoppage time. This should be another easy win for the visitors.

Heidenheim vs Bayer Leverkusen
Bayer Leverkusen need a bounceback performance after last night’s 2-1 DFB-Pokal debacle against Arminia Bielefeld, and they can get it against Heidenheim this Saturday. Any result other than a win is bad for Die Werkself. Xabi Alonso also hopes that Augsburg notch an upset against Bayern Munich to put them closer.
Before last night’s cup loss, Bayer Leverkusen were on a two-game winning streak. They survived a seven-goal thriller against VfB Stuttgart and followed it up with a wire-to-wire 3-1 victory over relegation-threatened VfL Bochum.
Patrik Schick will likely start up front for Die Werkself. The Czech striker is one of the frontrunners for the Golden Boot with 17 league goals, and he has Victor Boniface (eight league goals) as his backup. The club will continue to miss the services of midfielder Florian Wirtz, who is out due to an ankle injury.
Heidenheim are undefeated in their last three games (W2, D1), and upsetting Bayer Leverkusen will help them get out of the drop zone. Marvin Pieringer has been their best player with seven league goals.
Bayer Leverkusen won 5-2 in the reverse fixture at the BayArena last November.
Betting tip – Bayer Leverkusen Asian Handicap -1.00 @ 1.70
SC Freiburg vs Borussia Dortmund
SC Freiburg fell to seventh in the Bundesliga table after going winless in their last four games. After three consecutive draws against Augsburg (0-0), RB Leipzig (0-0), and Mainz (2-2), the Black Forest suffered a 2-1 home loss against Union Berlin. Despite this, Julian Schuster’s men are still in it. They are level on points with sixth-seeded RB Leipzig (42), and a win this weekend could see them go up as high as fifth place.
Borussia Dortmund are three notches below SC Freiburg at 38 points. Niko Kovac’s side halted their two-game slide with a timely 3-1 win against Mainz. They’re looking for a repeat of the reverse fixture last November, as they whacked SC Freiburg 4-0 at Signal Iduna Park last November.
Serhou Guirassy was surprisingly omitted from the matchday squad against Mainz. Despite the head-scratcher, BVB didn’t skip a beat since Maximilian Beier (brace) and Emre Can found the back of the net. If the Guinean forward misses his second straight game, Beier will be tasked with leading the way again.
SC Freiburg’s offence must click against the Yellow Wall, so we’re looking at Ritsu Doan and Vincenzo Grifo to be aggressive.
Betting tip – Total Goal 2-3 @ 2.00
