Unlike in recent summers, transfer activity has picked up for various Serie A teams, as they prepare for the 2026-27 campaign. Defending champions Inter Milan will have a huge target on their backs, although they’ve done their part so far this offseason.
Cristian Chivu’s side won the Scudetto with an 11-point cushion over second-seeded Napoli, who were in the Top 4 alongside AS Roma and Como, while AC Milan, Juventus, and Atalanta secured the other European football spots. The preseason Serie A 2026 odds predict it’s going to be a closer fight for the Scudetto this upcoming season.
AC Milan were among the first teams to complete the big moves for newly minted head coach Ruben Amorim, and we’ve covered it already here at SBOTOP. So this time we’ll discuss some notable moves made by the other calcios.
Here are the latest Serie A 2026 updates involving some of the top Scudetto contenders.
Inter Milan add experience to their backline
Despite winning their second Scudetto in the past three seasons, Inter Milan are not planning to run it back with the same core this upcoming campaign.
The Nerazzurri have released Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian, Stefan de Vrij, and Yann Sommer, and they sold Denzel Dumfries, Franco Carboni, and Sebastiano Esposito to Real Madrid, Parma, and Cagliari for a total of €26.5 million. In return, they signed Manuel Akanji (after a successful loan stint) on a permanent deal, bought Aleksandar Stankovic and Ivan Provedel from Club Brugge and Lazio for €26 million, and swooped up John Stones, whose contract with Manchester City expired this summer.
Provedel instantly becomes Inter Milan’s No. 1 goalkeeper, while Stones and Akanji will link up again at centre-half after previously winning titles with Manchester City. Stones adds a different dynamic to the Nerazzurri’s backline because of his ability to carry the ball. However, his recent history with injuries is a valid concern.
Stones’ arrival will help cover for Alessandro Bastoni, who’s embroiled in an alleged underage prostitution case. The 27-year-old centre-back is also a subject of interest for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Recently, Inter Milan have been linked to Federico Chiesa and Curtis Jones. However, Chiesa is determined to fight for his place at Anfield, and the Nerazzurri are reportedly unwilling to match Liverpool’s €40 million asking price for Jones, with their initial bid of €25 million rejected.
AS Roma refresh their squad under Gasperini
AS Roma raised eyebrows with their third-place finish in their first full season under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, so the front office rightfully backed Gasperini with some shrewd transfer moves this offseason.
For starters, they signed Donyell Malen and Daniele Ghilardi to permanent contracts, paying roughly €33 million to pry them away from Aston Villa and Hellas Verona, respectively. This was a no-brainer for the Giallorossi, especially for Malen, who ended up being their leading scorer with 14 league goals, despite only joining the squad last winter.
And most recently, they completed the €35 million transfer of Santiago Castro, who emerged as one of the top young centre-forwards in the Italian top-flight last term. The 21-year-old was Bologna’s second-leading scorer with seven league goals and two assists, and is expected to play alongside Malen in the final third.
In return, they’ve let go of Lorenzo Pellegrini, Zeki Celik, Stephan El Shaarawy, and Eldor Shomurodov, among others. AS Roma also loaned Artem Dovbyk to Bologna, hoping to rebuild his confidence.
Gasperini’s proactive playstyle has taken shape in Rome, which Atalanta fans are already familiar with. Last term, AS Roma had Serie A’s second-best defence and fourth-best offence, notching 59 goals while conceding 31 for a healthy goal difference of +28. And with these new acquisitions, it’s about to get better for the Giallorossi supporters.
Juventus plan to tweak their attack
Juventus are intent on revamping their approach in the final third this summer. After parting ways with Dusan Vlahovic, Tim Weah, and Filip Kostic, while loaning Lois Openda to Lyon, they’ve acquired Jeremie Boga, Jeff Ekhator, and Kerim Alajbegovic. The Bianconeri also swooped up full-back Zeki Celik on a free transfer. Luciano Spalletti’s side is also reportedly interested in adding Joshua Zirkzee and Randal Kolo Muani, with the latter close to a done deal. Kolo Muani is already familiar with the Old Lady, having played for them on loan in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign, notching eight goals and one assist in 16 Serie A matches. Meanwhile, Zirkzee is searching for more playing time after serving as Benjamin Sesko’s backup at Manchester United this past season.
